Become a dog minder, house sitter, or pet sit a pooch in the comfort of your own home while their parents go on holiday. It's fun, easy and you'll love Pet Minding in Melbourne. Pet Sit Stay is a new community based online database that matches pet owners with pet carers beyond dog day care. Providing you meet some fairly basic criteria you can register your profile as a pet carer on our new pet minding website www.petsitstay.com.au
Woofers has been organising sleepovers in south east Melbourne since 2004 and we have placed over 400 well loved dogs in happy holiday homes. Now with a great database of loving carers we have launched a website that allows the minders to manage thier own profiles, set their own rates, preferences, availability and even upload photos of themselves caring for their pets. It's a great way to register your interest as any type of pet carer or house sitter, and a great way to earn some extra money at the same time. You can accept as many assignments as you like and even vary your rates according to peak periods. If you choose to take a break from being a carer simply click "inactive" and your profile no longer appears in search results. One registration gives you access to all sorts of great furry friends. And best of all it's all on your terms. Visit the site at www.petsitstay.com.au and register for as little as $45. Click here now and get yourself a little friend for a day or two or three...it's up to you!
Why did we come up with the new site? What's in it for us?This new system of matching pet owners with pet carer gives better value allround. No more middle man! We found the behind the scenes work involved in organising a sleepover was too great for the return and by increasing our prices the service lost a lot of it's value for money. With Pet Sit Stay; pet owners pay a lesser daily rate, the pet carers recieve a higher daily rate and we have freed up our time to get on with caring for our exisiing day time and weekend clients. We are still happy to organise dog sleepovers, dog walking and even happier to match them to some really great minders, however with PetSitStay the pet owner can browse dozens of carers until they find the ideal one at their ideal price. When the pet owner is ready to contact the minder they pay an access fee ($45 for three months) and sms or email the carer directly from the site.
Visit petsitstay.com.au and discover how great the next school holidays can be when you have a little friend for a few days.It truly is an awesome way to earn a little extra spending money.
Reward yourself with a friend for a day, or two or three... you choose. Read on to learn about how the sleepover began.
How it came about... My husband and I were going on our honeymoon and needed to find holiday care for our new family member (our beautiful golden Labrador). We visited two (apparently reputable) boarding kennels an hour from Melbourne and found that our dog, whom is normally around humans and has the run of a home and backyard would have to be confined to a cage, which appeared no bigger than our dinning room table. When we asked about exercise, we were told 15 minutes per day was compulsory, although for an extra fee we could buy him time in a play pen. It was turning out to be an expensive holiday and for that sort of money we weren't prepared to leave him in a cage for 23 hours and 45 minutes of everyday without a pat, cuddle, or even the slightest affection or human interaction. Needless to say we couldn't bear to leave him in those conditions, so we imposed on our family. This may have been alright if they had dogs of their own or were regular walkers however they found it inconvenient and it strained us to think our boy was causing problems for someone. And so, we checked with state rules and found a provision for home boarding. There are guidelines that need to be followed and although minders operate independently we try to ensure that all rules and guidelines are followed to ensure EVERY dog on a sleepover has a great time.
The Minder's responsibilities… The simplest way to describe the responsibilities of the minder is "to care for the dog like it was your own human child or how you would want someone to care for your child". Following this simple concept is easy, fun and you'll be guaranteed a joyful time. We do, however, believe it to be important for everyone to define the guidelines and level of care. Therefore we have developed a code of conduct for dog minders.
THE DO's DO provide a safe secure fenced home that is hygienic and supervised. DO exercise and care for the dog with companionship and attention. DO seek veterinary or speciality care if required. (All expenses paid for by Woofers World or the Dog owner) DO have experience with the keeping and caring of dogs. THE DO NOT's DO NOT leave the animals without drinking water DO NOT leave children unsupervised with the animals DO NOT walk the visiting dog off leash DO NOT surrender care of the dog to anyone else DO NOT harm, strike or physically handle any dog in any way
Simple, fun and you'll love it!
We encourage you to try the beauty of this service, as it is flexible to you and your desires. You'll always get to meet the dog and owner before the care period and there is never any pressure to accept the care if you aren't happy with the dog or situation. However, if you commit to a care period you are obliged to see it through. You choose when, what type of dogs, and for how long you want them and let the pet owner do the rest.
